Square Seal Word Reading Card Game

$13.95

"Square Seal" is a fun, engaging, new word-reading card game designed by The EduNook. Our team of dyslexia specialist teachers recommend playing fun games at the end of each session with students in intervention; however, they could not find many games that contained multisyllable words. There are many good card games out there for students, which we recommend, but they were shorter, monosyllabic words only.

Students need to be challenged once they have explicitly learnt a new skill/concept. They need scaffolding, AND they need to learn they CAN read 'harder' words.
Introducing "Square Seal", the game that is hilarious, addictive and has students reading longer words without even realising it.

Each word card has a word written in the middle in large font to read out loud. If the student requires extra support, they can use the smaller version of this word at the bottom of the card which contains phoneme sound dots/bars and a syllable division line to support reading confidently and independently. Memory hook pictures (mnemonics) are embedded and PGCs (phoneme-grapheme correspondence) are colour-coded.

The aim of the game is to get a set of 4 word cards (with the same PGCs/letter-sounds) before the other players. Make a square with the 4 matching cards and yell out "SQUARE SEAL!" Do this to make 4x sets of 4 cards. Watch out for the "Sealy Special" cards. These may be challenge cards.
